Softball Recap: Lutheran Wins Going Away Against Discovery Canyon

While Lutheran put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Discovery Canyon. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Thunder. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won three in a row.

Discovery Canyon's batters probably weren't too happy with Annie Schroeder, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk). Schroeder has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addie Brightman was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Glenn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Lutheran's record now sits at 10-4. As for Discovery Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will square off against Lewis-Palmer at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.29 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Discovery Canyon, they will face off against Cheyenne Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunder will need to watch out since the Red-Tailed Hawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
