Baseball Recap: Morro Bay Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arroyo Grande, Morro Bay was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Terra Nova Tigers by a score of 11-7. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Cruz Wilkinson and Tanner Gray did most of the damage at the plate: Wilkinson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Gray went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Gray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton White, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Morro Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Morro Bay's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Terra Nova, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-5.

Morro Bay didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-3 victory against Village Christian on the 8th. As for Terra Nova, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-3 defeat against Atascadero on the 8th.
