The Freedom Falcons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They managed a 48-44 win over Granada. Given Freedom's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while Granada is ranked 880th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Freedom was led to victory by Eve Monzon and Ariel De La O. Monzon scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while De La O scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Monzon also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Naomi Bravo, who scored seven points.
Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Granada, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Freedom will be home for the holidays to greet Alameda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Granada, they will face off against Vintage at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vintage is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
