The Central Spartans will challenge the Mar Vista Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Central has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Mar Vista will arrive with eight straight wins.
Things were looking good for Central after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Palo Verde Valley by a score of 6-5.

Freddy Terrazas put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Central's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 6-16-1 when he doesn't). Terrazas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Terrazas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Madero, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Mar Vista rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Vikings.
JAKE LESLIE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mar Vista got a big performance out of KAI LANDRY, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave LANDRY a new career-high. JAYDEN FORREST-CAYETANO was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Mar Vista's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17-1.
Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Mar Vista when the teams last played back in April of 2022, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
