Jackson County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Flowery Branch Falcons as they made off with a 36-13 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Daylan Maxwell and Jayson Lee. Maxwell gained 177 total yards while Lee rushed for 61 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Jackson County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
Defeat or not, Flowery Branch got some senior leadership from Brett Strum and Tre Shields. Strum threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes, while Shields picked up 102 receiving yards and one score. Shields got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 57 yards.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson County will venture away from home to challenge Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Flowery Branch, they will head out to face off against Habersham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
