Chris Bautista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Monte Vista Christian got a massive performance out of Jackson Haddad, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Haddad posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Brown, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
Monte Vista Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stevenson only posted an OBP of .231.
Meanwhile, Milpitas suffered their closest loss since March 13th on Friday. They fell just short of Los Altos by a score of 3-1.
Monte Vista Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Milpitas, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
Milpitas' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monte Vista Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Milpitas, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Monte Vista Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
