The Rogers Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Middletown Islanders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rogers has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rogers came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Narragansett, falling 12-4. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Mariners recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jack Rosa was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Middletown). They were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over Rogers on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Islanders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Kenny Pirches was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pirches was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Middletown got a massive performance out of Ryan Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Agren, who went 3-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Middletown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Rogers' defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Middletown, their record is now 14-5.
Rogers might still be hurting after the 17-9 loss they got from Middletown in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
