Already named the East Bay Player of the Year by the Contra Costa Times and the San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro Player of the Year, DeMers is now the MaxPreps California Large Schools Player of the Year.
The winner of the MaxPreps National Player of the Year honor, DeMers excelled at the plate and on the mound for College Park while leading the team to a second-straight North Coast Section championship. DeMers posted a 13-1 overall record with three no-hitters and 103 strikeouts. At the plate, he batted .447 with six home runs and 44 RBIs.
Coach of the Year: Andy Tarpley, College ParkTarpley is the California Large Schools Coach of the Year after moving up from the North Coast Section Division II ranks to win the North Coast Section Division I championship with a victory over defending Division I champion De La Salle. College Park (26-4) also finished the season ranked No. 7 in the Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings.
The MaxPreps California Large Schools All-State Teams consists of two 30-member teams with players who competed in school enrollment divisions with generally over 2,000 students.
