The Cathedral Phantoms will take on the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Cathedral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Calvary Baptist. Winning may never get old, but the Phantoms sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Nathan Rodarte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Victor Galvez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Long Beach Poly, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sunny Hills 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jackrabbits have posted since March 20th.
Malakai Pruitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tate Hammond, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Will Trunnelle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Long Beach Poly's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Cathedral might still be hurting after the 18-6 defeat they got from Long Beach Poly in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Phantoms avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
