Prairie View dropped to 9-13 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Brighton Bulldogs, falling 14-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 back in September.
Shelby Ortiz and Aliciana Saucedo did some serious damage despite the final result: Ortiz went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Saucedo went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Brighton, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Brighton's side, Laikyn Lanzen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lanzen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Brighton got a massive performance out of Valeria Rojo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rojo has posted since back in September. Sumi Mizunaga was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Prairie View is set to face off against their familiar foe Mountain Range at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Brighton will square off against rival Riverdale Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
