Video: EJ Smith vs. Klein Collins
Jesuit senior running back scores four more TDs on Friday night.
EJ Smith was at it again on Friday night. It was almost a carbon copy of last Friday.
The son of Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, scored four touchdowns, including a 97-yard reception, leading
Dallas Jesuit (Texas) to a 28-21 win over
Klein Collins (Spring) in Texas 6A-2 Region 2 semifinal game.
Smith, who scored four touchdowns last week in a huge
27-25 upset win over Longview last week, scored on an 8-yard run with less than one minute left, breaking a 21-21 tie.
The 6-foot, 190-pound senior opened the scoring with a 5-yard run, added a 97-yard TD reception, and a 3-yard scoring run. Klein Collins (11-2) eventually tied it up on on two short
Braelon Bridges TD runs after a touchdown pass from
Colby Powers to
Frank Hickerson.
The second Bridges TD, a 2-yarder, tied it at 21-21 with less than five minutes to go. But the Rangers (9-4) drove right down field, before Smith scored the game winner. He has scored 11 touchdowns in the postseason.
Smith is ranked the third best all-purpose back in the
country by 247Sports. Florida, Georgia and Ohio State stand out among
his 22 scholarship offers.
Jesuit will in the Region 2 final next week against Saturday's winner between Houston Westfield and Midland Lee.
