The Red-Tailed Hawks will challenge the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Discovery Canyon took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cheyenne Mountain, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Cheyenne Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Air Academy, taking the game 17-14. The victory continues a trend for the Red-Tailed Hawks in their matchups with the Kadets: they've now won five in a row.
Cheyenne Mountain got a massive performance out of Corrine Harlow, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs Harlow has posted since back in August. Michaela (MJ) Ewen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cheyenne Mountain lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Discovery Canyon came up short against Lutheran on Wednesday, falling 12-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunder in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
Taylor McCann was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Discovery Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their record now sits at 13-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cheyenne Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Discovery Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
