If the Kennedy Thunderbirds were feeling good off their 57-32 takedown of the Wasco Tigers on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Kennedy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-27 walloping at the hands of Foothill on Thursday. Kennedy lost against Foothill in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 51-30 score last time.
Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kayleen Maes, who scored 14 points. The match was Maes' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Payan, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Kennedy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
Kennedy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McFarland at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to face off against Arvin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arvin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
