Even though the South Tahoe Vikings have not done well against the McQueen Lancers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. South Tahoe rang in the new year with a 52-42 victory over McQueen. The victory was nothing new for South Tahoe as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Addie Menke was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
McQueen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caitlin Hilson, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds. Hilson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Baumgardner, who scored eight points.
South Tahoe is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for McQueen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
South Tahoe will head out on the road to face off against Fernley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for McQueen, they will be playing at home against Damonte Ranch at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Damonte Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
