The Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They took down Creighton 50-31. That's another feather in the cap for Niobrara/Verdigre, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Josilyn Miller was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Niobrara/Verdigre's points. Eve Kucera was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 18 rebounds.
Niobrara/Verdigre's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-3. As for Creighton, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.
Niobrara/Verdigre will head out on the road to face off against Wausa at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Wausa is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Creighton will be home for the holidays to greet Elgin/Pope John at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Elgin/Pope John will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
