Softball Recap: Academy for Classical Education Triumphs

Academy for Classical Education proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 17) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bleckley County Royals, sneaking past 5-3. The Gryphons haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Giselle Giles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Academy for Classical Education let Kayleigh Kell and Sydney Collins run wild. Kell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Collins went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Those four hits gave Collins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Denney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Academy for Classical Education kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bleckley County only managed seven hits.

Academy for Classical Education's record now sits at 8-4. As for Bleckley County, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Academy for Classical Education will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Royals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
