Palo Alto is 1-8 against Wilcox since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vikings will face off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Palo Alto has given up an average of 37.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Palo Alto is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against King's Academy last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Vikings were outmatched by the Knights and fell 35-7. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Even if they lost, Palo Alto's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Joel Haunga, Kevin O'Brien, and Tevita Fusimalohi, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.
Meanwhile, while Wilcox put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Capuchino. The Chargers breezed past the Mustangs to the tune of 49-0. That looming 49-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chargers yet this season.
Palo Alto better keep an eye on Kai Imahara. He was instrumental in Wilcox's win, rushing for 62 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 70 yards and one touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes.
Wilcox didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremiah Arevalos and Isiaiah Arevalos. Wilcox received some extra help from Santino Barragan, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Wilcox pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.9 points over those games. As for Palo Alto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Palo Alto was dealt a bruising 42-13 loss at the hands of Wilcox in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Imahara, who rushed for 96 yards and three scores on only seven carries.
