While St. Rita didn't have the best season last year (they finished 17-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Neumann Celtics 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Sullivan Kazee tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, St. Rita's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Arteaga, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. Jayden Hawkins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

St. Rita pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Neumann, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.

St. Rita didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-4 win against Oak Forest on the 6th. As for Neumann, they have also already played their next game, a 6-4 victory against Monsignor Pace on the 8th.
