The McLane Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Chavez Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
McLane is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Caruthers as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Max Corona was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McLane is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-13-1 otherwise. Corona was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other pitching news, McLane got a great performance from Gio Morales as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Morales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Chavez got themselves on the board against North on Friday, but North never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Stars.
Like McLane, Chavez also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Sixtos. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Sixtos a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jose Agredano, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Benji Perez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Chavez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .100.
McLane's record now sits at 15-13-1. As for Chavez, their record is now 15-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. McLane has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chavez struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
McLane got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2018 against Chavez by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
