MaxPreps crowned its first high school football national champion in 2008 after
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) capped a 15-0 season by crushing
Lakeland 56-7 in Florida's Class 5A state championship game. Since that time, over 150 schools in 30 states have etched their place in history by earning a spot in the final MaxPreps Top 25 rankings. See the complete list below.
Storied
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) leads the way when it comes to MaxPreps Top 25 finishes, notching 10 in 13 years including No. 3 finishes in 2010, 2014 and 2015. The Spartans were ranked in the top 10 in seven seasons.
De La Salle is joined St. Thomas Aquinas,
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas),
Centennial (Corona, Calif.) and
Central (Miami, Fla.) as the only teams with eight or more MaxPreps Top 25 finishes.
Florida leads the way with the most different schools represented on the list with 19 apiece. Texas and California are not far behind with 18 and 17, respectively. Georgia (11) and Ohio (10) are the only other states with double digits.
