Basketball Recap: Kate Boerner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Episcopal Academy over Garnet Valley

Episcopal Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Garnet Valley on Saturday. The Episcopal Academy Churchmen took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garnet Valley Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Churchmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 37th).

Episcopal Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Boerner, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Boerner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addi Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

It was another big night for Kylie Mulholland, who went 9 of 12 on her way to 21 points and three steals for Garnet Valley. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylie Adamski, who had 11 points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Episcopal Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season. As for Garnet Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Episcopal Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-36 loss against Shipley on the 30th. As for Garnet Valley, they will square off against Ridley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garnet Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
