Jacob Haas has been named player of the year. "Jacob had a senior season for the ages. One that I, as his coach, will never forget witnessing. Jacob, from the very first team meeting, understood his role as a team leader and epitomized that in his actions and words all season long. As a direct result of Jacob's performances and his leadership, Riverside claimed its first ever baseball State Championship! On the mound is where Jacob had the biggest impact. In his 15 appearances, including 13 starts, Jacob went 11-0 with an unreal 0.83 ERA. Jacob tossed 9 complete games, 6 shutouts, 1 perfect game and 1 No-Hitter (which were in back-to-back appearances). In 76.1 innings pitched Jacob struck out 152 batters (2 Ks/inning), and walked only 16 hitters (9.5 Ks/BB). On offense, Jacob hit a stout .478, had an on base % of .651, and slugging % of .895 (OPS = 1.547!)! Jacob hit 5 homers, 3 triples, 7 doubles, drove in 30 RBI, scored 36 runs, walked 32 times, and struck out only 4 times. Congratulations, Jacob, on an incredible year!!"
