Virginia High School Basketball - Lakeland thwarts Deep Creek
January 6, 2023: Chesapeake, VA 23323 The Lakeland Cavaliers (Suffolk, VA) basketball knocked off the host Deep Creek Hornets (Chesapeake, VA), 61-50 in Friday's league test.
The Cavaliers (4-3) will now prepare for their test against Nansemond River (Suffolk, VA). The Warriors go into the Southeastern test with a 7-2 record. In their last test, Nansemond River went down by Franklin (Franklin, VA), 60-53, in a non-league test.
The Hornets now own a 1-8 record. They play next when they travel to Norcom for a non-league test on Saturday, January 7. Deep Creek will encounter a Greyhounds squad coming off a 62-39 league loss to Maury (Norfolk, VA). The Greyhounds record now stands at 1-9.
