In Friday's league match, the host Fort Chiswell Pioneers basketball team scored a tight 45-39 triumph over the Galax Maroon Tide.

In their next game, the Pioneers meet the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) in a Mountain Empire match, on Wednesday, January 12. Fort Chiswell will attempt to move on its 6-8 season record.
