The Springfield Southeast Spartans basketball team (Springfield, IL), was nudged 45-42 in Friday's league battle with the visiting Normal University Pioneers (Normal, IL)

The Pioneers now possess a 7-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Washington for a non-league battle on Monday, January 16. Normal University will confront a Panthers team coming off a 63-54 league win over Metamora (Metamora, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 17-2.

The Spartans (7-12) will now prepare for their battle against Glenwood (Chatham, IL). The Titans come into the Central State Eight battle with a 9-10 record. In their last battle, Glenwood edged MacArthur (Decatur, IL), 51-50, in a league battle.
