Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) and the visiting Lowell Red Devils (Lowell, IN), saw Merrillville's basketball squad hold off Lowell by a tally of 57-50.

With the victory, Merrillville improves its record to 5-18 on the campaign. The Pirates host Highland (Highland, IN) to confront the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 26. The Trojans come into the challenge with a record of 15-5. Highland lost 54-37 in their recent non-league challenge against Lake Central (St. John, IN)

Next up, the Red Devils confront the Morgan Township Cherokees (Valparaiso, IN) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, January 26. Lowell will attempt to improve on its 9-13 season record. The Cherokees come into the challenge with a 12-7 record after their 44-32 league win over Westville (Westville, IN).
