North Carolina High School Basketball - Statesville overwhelms West Iredell
January 24, 2024: Statesville, NC 28677 Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Statesville Greyhounds (Statesville, NC) and the visiting West Iredell Warriors (Statesville, NC), saw Statesville's basketball squad wallop West Iredell by a tally of 70-30.
With the victory, Statesville improves its record to 8-9 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC) to confront the Knights in a 3A Western Foothills challenge on Friday, January 26. The Knights come into the challenge with a record of 14-3. North Lincoln won 69-66 in their recent league challenge against East Lincoln (Denver, NC)
Next up, the Warriors confront the St. Stephens Indians (Hickory, NC) in a 3A Western Foothills challenge, on Friday, January 26. West Iredell will attempt to improve on its 2-14 season record. The Indians come into the challenge with a 9-8 record after their 76-66 league win over Foard (Newton, NC).

Great team win by the hounds as 4 players had double-digit points: Caleb Tillman being the leading scorer with 14 points and 3 steals, followed by Kevin Bryant having 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, and Tatum Tucker having 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks, also with Ameiyon Je'Hahj Sherril having 10 points and 7 rebounds!
