In Thursday's league test, the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars (Pinetops, NC) basketball squad defeated the host West Craven Eagles (Vanceboro, NC), by a final score of 65-50.

Next, the Cougars clash with the North Pitt Panthers (Bethel, NC) in a 2A Eastern Plains test, on Friday, January 31. SouthWest Edgecombe will attempt to upgrade on its 13-3 season record. The Panthers come into the test with a 4-14 record after their 64-60 league loss to Greene Central (Snow Hill, NC).

The Eagles (3-10) will now prepare for their test against Lawrence Academy (Merry Hill, NC). The Warriors come into the non-league test with a 9-8 record. In their last test, Lawrence Academy overcame Pungo Christian Academy (Belhaven, NC), 68-50, in a league test.
