Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC), 8-5 in a league test.

With the win, Laney upgrades its record to 3-5 on the season. The Buccaneers host West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC) to battle the Trojans in a Mideastern 3A/4A test on Tuesday, March 26. The Trojans come into the test with a record of 7-3. West Brunswick won 5-4 in their recent league test against Ashley (Wilmington, NC)

With the defeat, Hoggard falls to 9-1 on the season. The Vikings travel to Purnell Swett (Pembroke, NC) to battle the Rams in a non-league test on Saturday, March 23. The Rams come into the test with a record of 4-3. Purnell Swett lost 3-2 in their recent non-league test against Richmond (Rockingham, NC)
