Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC), 1-0 in a league test.

With the win, Topsail upgrades its record to 11-8 on the season. The Pirates host Ashley (Wilmington, NC) to battle the Screaming Eagle in a Mideastern 3A/4A test on Tuesday, April 30. The Screaming Eagle come into the test with a record of 18-3. Ashley won 6-5 in their recent league test against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC)

With the defeat, Hoggard falls to 16-5 on the season. The Vikings travel to Grace Christian (Sanford, NC) to battle the Crusaders in a non-league test on Saturday, April 27. The Crusaders come into the test with a record of 14-5. Grace Christian won 8-7 in their recent non-league test against Wayne Country Day (Goldsboro, NC)
