Game Summary
With one run already in and with one out and bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning the La Salle Cardinals comeback attempted stalled just as quickly as it got started as they drop a tough 3-8 lost to St. Edmund Prep on Randall’s Island. The loss drops La Salle’s record to 3-5 but more importantly it gave St. Edmund a sweep of the season series.
The Cardinals outhit the Eagles 6-4, but Edmund was more efficient scoring on sacrifices and ground outs whereas La Salle had multiple opportunities to push across more runs but couldn’t get the hits needed as they stranded eight runners on base. Manuel Ramirez took the loss; however, he was effective in 6 2/3 innings, only 3-hits, striking out nine but gave up six walks, which eventually came back to bite him in the end. Kerick Tejada (3 hits, 3B) and Allen Gutierrez (triple, double) combined for five of the Cardinals six hits.
