CARDINALS GET CLIPPED BY LIONS
Thursday, April 11, 2024 – Another one bad inning its all it took to halt the La Salle Cardinals 1-game win streak as they fell 2-6 to the Bishop Loughlin Lions at the Parade Grounds, in Brooklyn. The loss drops La Salle’s division record to 1-2 to start the year.
The Cardinals held a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth and that’s where the wheels fell off as the Lion’s batted around knocking in five runs on four hits to take a commanding 4-run lead. The damage could have been worse, but the La Salle defense came up with two stellar plays, one on a outfield relay and the other on a sharp grounder to third, both of which cut off runs at home plate to keep the game close.
Manuel Ramirez took the loss for La Salle giving up 6 runs on 6 hits with seven strikeouts against four walks. Kerick Tejada scored twice as Anthony Gonzalez and Yasser Calderon had an RBI apiece to pace the Cardinals offense.
