Wyoming High School Softball - Wheatland felled by East
May 11, 2023: Wheatland, WY 82201 In Thursday's non-league outing, the visiting East Thunderbirds softball squad scored a good 17-0 victory over the Wheatland Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs now possess a 5-15 record. They play next when they travel to Thunder Basin for a 4A East bout on Monday, May 15. Wheatland will confront a Bolts squad coming off a 8-7 non-league loss to Laramie (Laramie, WY). The Bolts record now stands at 16-4.
Game Summary
Lillian Vallejo threw a gem on Thursday for East, allowing zero runs and besting Wheatland Varsity Bulldogs by a score of 17-0 Rylee Stephenson led East to victory by driving in four runs. Stephenson went 3-for-4 at the plate. Stephenson drove in runs on a home run in the second and a double in the fourth. East got things moving in the first inning. East scored two runs when Gracie Oswald homered. East notched eight runs in the second inning. East offense in the inning came from singles by Emily Schlagel, McKenzie Millar, and Madelyn Artery, a walk by Aleah Brooks, a home run by Stephenson, and an error on a ball put in play by Vallejo. Vallejo went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out eight. East smacked two home runs on the day. Oswald had a homer in the first inning. Stephenson went yard in the second inning. East collected 21 hits on Taylor Morgan, Brooks, Taylor Hollibaugh, Stephenson, Vallejo, and Oswald collected multiple hits.
