May 11, 2023: Wheatland, WY 82201 East Thunderbirds (Cheyenne, WY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Wheatland Bulldogs (Wheatland, WY), 17-0 in a league challenge.
The Thunderbirds now own a 18-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wheatland for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11. East will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 16-5 non-league loss to Central (Cheyenne, WY). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-13.
With the loss, Wheatland falls to 5-15 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host East (Cheyenne, WY) to battle the Thunderbirds in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11. Jaylyn Christensen threw a shutout to lead East past Wheatland Varsity Bulldogs 17-0 on Thursday.East was boosted by Aleah Brooks who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Brooks doubled in the first, homered in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and homered in the sixth. East tallied 11 runs in the sixth inning. East offense in the inning was led by Brooks, Emily Schlagel, Taylor Hollibaugh, Lillian Vallejo, McKenzie Millar, and Taylor Morgan, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Christensen earned the victory in the circle for East Thunderbirds Varsity Girls Softball. Christensen surrendered zero runs on two hits over six innings, striking out 15 and walking zero. East smacked two home runs on the day. Brooks had a dinger in the fourth and sixth innings. East collected 16 hits on the day. Brooks, Schlagel, Morgan, Gracie Oswald, Vallejo, and Hollibaugh all managed multiple hits for East. Brooks went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead East.
