New York High School Baseball - LaSalle Academy loses to Cathedral Prep
May 12, 2025: Elmhurst, NY 11373 Cathedral Prep Crusaders (Elmhurst, NY) fans left the game pleased Monday as they observed their baseball squad achieve victory over the visiting LaSalle Academy Cardinals (New York, NY), 9-5 in a league match.
With the triumph, Cathedral Prep advances its record to 8-7 on the season. The Crusaders travel to Christ the King (Middle Village, NY) to battle the Royals in a Catholic A - North match on Tuesday, May 13. The Royals come into the match with a record of 5-0. Christ the King won 5-4 in their recent league match against LaSalle Academy (New York, NY)
The Cardinals now have a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Bishop Loughlin for a Catholic B match on Thursday, May 15.

Monday, May 12, 2025 – For the second game in a row the La Salle Cardinals out hit their opponent, this time 11-8, and for the second game in a row, the La Salle Cardinals lost, this time dropping a 5-9 decision to Cathedral Prep at Preller Fields in Queens. Spot starter, Kerick Tejada did a yeoman’s job for four innings, but the defense wasn’t crisp and the offense, once again, was slow to start, which lead to La Salle’s record falling to 5-3.
Cathedral Prep jumped on board with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and did just enough to keep La Salle out of range, even as the Cardinals closed the gap. In the top of the fifth, good baserunning plus RBI singles from Henry Vasseur (2 for 4, RBI), Anthony Jimenez (3 for 4, RBI, K) and Brandon Asciolla (2 for 4, RBI, R), who also pitched the final two innings for La Salle, brought the Cards within three.
