New York High School Baseball - LaSalle Academy wallops Sacred Heart
April 1, 2025: New York, NY 10003 The crowd at Tuesday's league battle between the LaSalle Academy Cardinals (New York, NY) and the visiting Sacred Heart Irish (Yonkers, NY), saw LaSalle Academy's baseball team gain a win over Sacred Heart by a tally of 13-1.
The Cardinals (1-2) will now prepare for their battle against Christ the King (Middle Village, NY). The Royals enter the Catholic A - North battle with a 0-0 record.
Next, the Irish face the Iona Prep Gaels (New Rochelle, NY) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, April 5. Sacred Heart will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.

LA SALLE STARTS OFF RIGHT
The La Salle Academy Cardinals kicked off their 2025 season with a runaway 13-1 (5 innings) victory over Sacred Heart on Randall’s Island. The Cardinals ambushed the Irish for a team record 11-run first inning and never looked back to start the CHSAA (Catholic High School Athletic Association) ‘A’ Division season.
Yasser Calderon, led the way for La Salle, tossing a complete game 1-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Calderon (2 for 2, 3B, 3R, 2 BB) and Allen Gutierrez (2 for 4, 2 R) had two (2) hits and two (2) RBIs each to pace the Cardinals offense which also produced seven (7) walks and eight (8) stolen bases.
On Deck: La Salle hosts Christ the King on Thursday, April 3rd. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm on Randall’s Island Field #20.
