New York High School Baseball - LaSalle Academy edged by Bishop Loughlin
May 30, 2025: New York, NY 10003 Bishop Loughlin Lions (Brooklyn, NY) followers left the game pleased Friday as they observed their baseball squad nip the host LaSalle Academy Cardinals (New York, NY), 5-4 in a non-league match.
With the triumph, Bishop Loughlin moves its record to 9-6 on the season. The Lions travel to Christ the King (Middle Village, NY) to battle the Royals in a non-league match on Monday, June 2. The Royals come into the match with a record of 12-1. Christ the King won 11-1 in their recent league match against Cathedral Prep (Elmhurst, NY)
The Cardinals now possess a 7-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Cathedral Prep for a non-league match on Monday, June 2. LaSalle Academy will battle a Crusaders squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Christ the King (Middle Village, NY). The Crusaders record now stands at 12-9.
Game Summary
After their first game of the CHSAA Varsity Baseball Intersectional ‘A’ Division 2025 Championship Tournament, the La Salle Cardinals find themselves on the edge after losing 5-4 against Bishop Loughlin on Randall’s Island. Fortunately for La Salle it’s a double elimination format, so they quest for the championship is still alive, even if life support is needed.
Back to the game, Loughlin roared out the gate posting two runs in the top of the first thanks to La Salle miscues, however, the Cardinals seemed unfazed as they rallied for two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, then took the lead in the bottom of the second. This game was far from over as you would expect between the #2 seed (La Salle) and #3 seed (Loughlin) and true to form the Lions tied it up at three in the top of the third.
