New York High School Baseball - Bishop Loughlin loses to LaSalle Academy
April 29, 2025: Brooklyn, NY 11238 LaSalle Academy Cardinals (New York, NY) fans left the game pleased Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad achieve victory over the host Bishop Loughlin Lions (Brooklyn, NY), 6-2 in a league match.
With the triumph, LaSalle Academy advances its record to 4-3 on the season. The Cardinals host Cathedral Prep (Elmhurst, NY) to battle the Crusaders in a Catholic A - North match on Thursday, May 1. The Crusaders come into the match with a record of 7-4. Cathedral Prep won 7-2 in their recent non-league match against Sacred Heart (Yonkers, NY)
The Lions now have a 2-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Nazareth for a non-league match on Thursday, May 1.
Game Summary
Fresh off Monday’s road win, in Yonkers, on Tuesday, the La Salle Academy Cardinals hit the road to Brooklyn for a matchup against Bishop Loughlin and came away with 6-2 victory over the Lions inside Prospect Park. The win gives La Salle a tidy 3-game winning streak and improves their CHSAA A Division record to 4-1.
Yasser Calderon (3-0) got the win for the Cardinals tossing five strong innings of 1-hit ball and finished with one earned run against three hits, six walks and eight strikeouts. Kerick Tejada gave up one run in the sixth but struck out two to end the game. Senior, Anthony Gonzalez (2 for 2, 3 RBI) delivered both the big and decisive blows for La Salle. Junior transfer, Brandon Asciolla, collected his first varsity hit.
