Game Summary
Claire came close in the 9th min, one one of her left-footed blams! that hit the near post, and Aaliyah hit home on her long-distance bomb (on Ari B's assist) floated in under the crossbar with 24 min. left in the half. Aaliyah returned the favor on a long throw-in that found Ari B in front and was quickly knocked in. Claire came close twice more before the half, on blasts from the left that skirted just wide, and we settled in with a 2-nil lead at the break. Aaliyah's free kick in the 56th min. was punched out by the keeper and the rebound close in front was skied by Rheanna. They got past us with 14 min. left to cut our lead in half. But Claire almost got the goal back twice in the closing minutes: once on her ball from wide left that skipped off the crossbar, and her last shot that we were sure was hand-balled in the box that was a no-call by the ref. Our defense was strong and nearly flawless; Emma grabbed 4 saves in the win, and we put up 15 shots on goal in 22 attempts.
