The Weddington Warriors (Matthews, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Marvin Ridge Mavericks (Waxhaw, NC), 58-53 in Tuesday's league test.

The Warriors (11-6) will now prepare for their test against Sun Valley (Monroe, NC). The Spartans go into the 4A Conference 58 test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, Sun Valley got by Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC), 66-39, in a league test.

The Mavericks now own a 9-9 record. They play next when they host Porter Ridge for a 4A Conference 58 test on Friday, January 20. Marvin Ridge will encounter a Pirates squad coming off a 59-56 league loss to Piedmont (Monroe, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 10-9.
