January 17, 2023: Sparta, IL 62286 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Steeleville Warriors (Steeleville, IL) and the host Sparta Bulldogs (Sparta, IL), saw Steeleville's basketball squad hold off Sparta by a tally of 67-62.
With the victory, Steeleville improves its record to 10-7 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to New Athens (New Athens, IL) to play the Yellow Jackets in a Cahokia - Kaskaskia challenge on Friday, January 27. The Yellow Jackets come into the challenge with a record of 11-10. New Athens won 66-55 in their recent league challenge against Valmeyer (Valmeyer, IL)
Next up, the Bulldogs play the Lovejoy Wildcats (Lovejoy, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 18. Sparta will attempt to improve on its 13-5 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 7-5 record after their 69-64 non-league loss to Saxony Lutheran (Jackson, MO).
