Westfield Mustangs (Houston, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Spring Lions (Spring, TX), 40-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Westfield upgrades its record to 16-3 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Dekaney (Houston, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 6A Region II District 14 bout on Friday, January 20. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 0-20. Dekaney lost 53-10 in their recent league bout against Nimitz (Houston, TX)

Next up, the Lions play the Benjamin Davis Falcons (Houston, TX) in a 6A Region II District 14 bout, on Friday, January 20. Spring will attempt to upgrade on its 17-8 season record. The Falcons come into the bout with a 5-14 record after their 41-34 league loss to Aldine (Houston, TX).
