Gate City Blue Devils (Gate City, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Abingdon Falcons (Abingdon, VA), 62-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Gate City upgrades its record to 12-2 on the season. The Blue Devils travel to Ridgeview (Clintwood, VA) to clash with the Wolfpack in a Mountain bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Wolfpack go into the bout with a record of 12-4. Ridgeview lost 66-39 in their recent league bout against Central Wise (Norton, VA)

Next up, the Falcons clash with the Tennessee Vikings (Bristol, TN) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 21. Abingdon will attempt to upgrade on its 3-13 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 10-12 record after their 60-38 non-league loss to Volunteer (Church Hill, TN).
