Nixon Mustangs (Laredo, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Rio Grande City Rattlers (Rio Grande City, TX), 35-29 in a league bout.

With the win, Nixon upgrades its record to 24-9 on the season. The Mustangs host Roma (Roma, TX) to play the Gladiators in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Gladiators go into the bout with a record of 15-13. Roma won 61-29 in their recent league bout against Juarez-Lincoln (La Joya, TX)

Next up, the Rattlers play the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies (La Joya, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Rio Grande City will attempt to upgrade on its 20-11 season record. The Huskies go into the bout with a 2-17 record after their 61-29 league loss to Roma (Roma, TX).
