The Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) basketball edged the visiting Pine-Richland Rams (Gibsonia, PA), 37-31 in Monday's non-league bout.

The Fightin' Planets now possess a 9-6 record. They play next when they travel to South Fayette for a WPIAL 5A 3 bout on Wednesday, January 22. Mars will play a Lions team coming off a 72-41 non-league win over Chartiers Valley (Bridgeville, PA). The Lions record now stands at 13-1.

With the loss, Pine-Richland falls to 4-12 on the campaign. The Rams travel to Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh, PA) to play the Wolverines in a WPIAL 6A 1 bout on Saturday, January 25. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 4-7. Woodland Hills lost 64-40 in their recent league bout against North Hills (Pittsburgh, PA)
