The Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) basketball edged the visiting Moon Area Tigers (Moon Township, PA), 54-53 in Friday's league bout.

The Fightin' Planets now possess a 11-8 record. They play next when they travel to New Castle for a WPIAL 5A 3 bout on Monday, February 3. Mars will play a Hurricanes team coming off a 75-22 league loss to South Fayette (McDonald, PA). The Hurricanes record now stands at 2-10.

With the loss, Moon Area falls to 10-7 on the campaign. The Tigers host West Allegheny (Imperial, PA) to play the Indians in a WPIAL 5A 3 bout on Monday, February 3. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 9-8.
