In Thursday's non-league match, the host Union Academy Cardinals basketball team scored a decisive 65-36 triumph over the North Stanly Comets.

In their next game, the Cardinals meet the Gray Stone Day Knights (Misenheimer, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, January 27. Union Academy will attempt to better on its 11-6 season record. The Knights enter the match with a 4-9 record after their 64-48 non-league win over Albemarle (Albemarle, NC).
