South Stokes Sauras (Walnut Cove, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC), 70-53 in a league bout.

With the win, South Stokes upgrades its record to 17-1 on the season. The Sauras host Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC) to play the Granite Bears in a 1A Northwest bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Granite Bears go into the bout with a record of 8-6. Mount Airy won 62-41 in their recent league bout against East Wilkes (Ronda, NC)

Next up, the Trojans play the Mount Airy Granite Bears (Mount Airy, NC) in a 1A Northwest bout, on Wednesday, January 31. Alleghany will attempt to upgrade on its 6-11 season record.
