January 28, 2023: East Machias, ME 04630 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Washington Academy Raiders (East Machias, ME) and the visiting Houlton Shiretowners (Houlton, ME), saw Washington Academy's basketball squad overcome Houlton by a tally of 46-37.
With the victory, Washington Academy improves its record to 8-8 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to Foxcroft Academy (Dover-Foxcroft, ME) to confront the Ponies in a B North challenge on Wednesday, February 1. The Ponies come into the challenge with a record of 10-4. Foxcroft Academy won 42-34 in their recent league challenge against John Bapst Memorial (Bangor, ME)
Next up, the Shiretowners confront the Central Aroostook Panthers (Mars Hill, ME) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 30. Houlton will attempt to improve on its 3-5 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 6-7 record after their 51-44 league win over Madawaska (Madawaska, ME).
