The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars (Pinetops, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Greene Central Rams (Snow Hill, NC), 49-44 in Wednesday's league test.

The Cougars (7-4) will now prepare for their test against North Pitt (Bethel, NC). The Panthers go into the 2A Eastern Plains test with a 1-8 record. In their last test, North Pitt was tipped by South Central (Winterville, NC), 64-57, in a non-league test.

The Rams now own a 4-8 record. They play next when they host Ayden - Grifton for a 2A Eastern Plains test on Friday, January 5. Greene Central will encounter a Chargers squad coming off a 95-72 league loss to Farmville Central (Farmville, NC). The Chargers record now stands at 9-4.
